The Black Frances is a variation of one of the most effective flies for Atlantic salmon fishing, the Red Frances. Originally from Iceland, it is now used throughout Europe with great success year-round. And as we all know, black always works, especially in salmon and sea trout fishing. It doesn't matter the season, time of day, or water conditions. This black wonder fly is visible against any water background, providing a great contrast. Especially salmon that have been in the pool for a while often respond well to this pattern, while other flies may be ignored. This black variant is tied with brown hackle and pig bristles on a weighted brass tube, additionally equipped with a yellow brass cone head. This allows the fly to sink directly, making it effective in fast water or deep pools, where it often provokes fish when jigged. Thanks to the incorporated silicone tubing, attaching it to tube hooks is even easier, the hook stays in place without slipping, and hooking properties are improved.
