Rio Premier Striper Intermediate fly line

In the U.S., the demand for a special line was so high that RIO has developed a designated line specifically for fishing striper. We have already learned to love the floating and intermediate models on our local predatory fish, such as pike, sea trout, perch, zander and Co. With the new Rio Premier Striper Intermediate version, this beloved line is now also available with the SlickCast coating, Rio's smoothest and most durable coating.

The taper of the line is optimized to deliver large and weighted flies towards the horizon, even in strong winds, while remaining stable in the air. This allows to perfectly match the shooting point of the line and thus to get maximum casting distances. When fishing with an intermediate line, which is often blind, this is especially helpful as we ideally cover as much water surface as possible to find the fish. The 9.1m head sinks perfectly into the upper water layer and you always keep good contact with the fly even in big waves. The clear head reduces the scaring effect of the line, so even suspicious fish can be enticed to bite!

The compact head quickly transitions into the running line, which has incredibly good shooting properties thanks to the ultra-smooth SlickCast coating. In practice, this allows particularly long casts with too little empty turns. With heavy rods, in a lot of wind or with large flies, this property is worth its weight in gold.

The Rio Premier Striper Intermediate is a powerful line even with large flies and powerful wind. The clear head of the line minimizes the scouring effect and makes the line the ideal choice for pike, zander but also sea trout and sea bass.

Rio Technology:

  •     Slick Cast
The name says it all! With this new technology, Rio has really shaken up the fly line market. Rio itself advertises it as the smoothest coating on the market. Shootability, noise minimization and longevity of the line are improved. We ourselves found the lines so smooth that we had to rein ourselves in a bit at first to avoid overshooting the metaphorical mark. So we can subscribe to Rio's claim.
