The Monarch is a rigid tying vise without an intermediate joint for fast tying and with an extremely secure hold of your fly in the jaws.

Particularly small hooks for nymphs or dry flies find room in the tips of the jaws and even these would rather bend before the hooks move between the Dyna-King jaws.
