LOC Merino Sock Thick

The thick Merino socks from LOC. These high-quality socks are made of 84% premium Merino wool and are manufactured in a small family business in Sweden. The Merino Sock Thick is perfect to wear on colder days in spring, autumn, or winter as a base layer directly on the skin. And if you need even more warmth, you can pair them with the thin LOC Merino socks, ensuring you're well-prepared for the most extreme temperatures!

The LOC Merino Thick Socks are made from the finest, softest, and warmest Merino wool. The natural material used is 100% mulesing-free and has an Oeko-Tex certification, meaning these socks do not contain harmful substances. Designed and thoroughly tested by hardcore fly fishers, they function perfectly with LOC waders. However, they work just as well with all types of waders or conventional hiking boots.

The entire sock is knitted with terry, providing a warm, protective, and cushioning feel. The midsole is reinforced to reduce pressure, and a thinner, technical knitting technique is applied in the joint area for a perfect fit and optimal blood circulation. The thick LOC Merino sock is a medium-length model specifically designed for waders, reaching just above the top of the gravel guards to not disturb the 3D mesh of LOC waders. Overall, it's an ultra-warm, comfortable Merino sock that offers both form and function.

Care Instructions for Merino Wool

Wool is truly an amazing material. It's breathable, durable, and has natural odor resistance. Wool's resistance to dirt and bacteria is well-documented, so it doesn't need to be washed as often as other fabrics.
After using these socks for a while, you can simply rinse them with lukewarm water and hang them to dry. That's usually all you need to make these socks feel fresh again. And if they do start to smell, it's time to throw them in the washing machine. But remember: washing garments made of Merino wool too often can diminish the natural properties of the wool. Use a laundry bag to protect the wool fabric in the machine if possible.

Here are some helpful tips for caring for Merino wool:

  • Wash in the washing machine on the wool program (maximum temperature 30 degrees Celsius).
  • Use a detergent specifically designed for wool if possible. If you don't have wool detergent, use a mild, environmentally certified detergent without enzymes and with a neutral pH.
  • Do not use bleach.
  • Do not use fabric softeners. They harm the environment and reduce the fabric's performance, especially decreasing moisture absorption and prolonging drying time.
  • Do not tumble dry. This is also bad for the environment (and your energy bill), and since wool is heat-sensitive, it's a bad idea.

About LOC Waders:

LOC Waders - Waders like no other! The motto of this young Swedish brand hits the nail on the head. Because waders from LOC are really unlike any others on the market. These waders don't breathe! And for good reason. The breathable membrane is the weakest point of a pair of waders and can be identified as the most common cause of leaks. LOC waders are therefore made of an extremely robust material on the outside, which can withstand the highest demands. On the inside, however, a patented mesh system provides the important moisture transport and ensures that you can use LOC waders in any temperature. At LOC, you will find the right underwear to match the smart high-end waders so that you can realise their full potential.
