Product information "Abel TR # 4/5 Reel Grayling Ebony Handle fly reel"
The Abel TR # 4/5 Reel Grayling Ebony Handle is the perfect addition to your fly rod for the stream, especially if you're a grayling fanatic. This unique finish on the fly reel makes your setup a real eye-catcher!
Each Abel® product in this highly limited edition is a unique design that is individually anodised by hand in the anodising workshop in Camarillo, California - using the company's proprietary artistic metallurgical process. The designs take between 2 and 14 hours for a single employee to complete. With this fly reel, you not only get one of the highest quality reels ever, but also a truly unique piece that is unrivalled.
The original TR from Abel came onto the market around 1990 and quickly became a favourite of many trout anglers. Traditional, simple and built to last for many generations. The new edition remains true to the original idea, but with a small facelift and some new features.
The exterior of the castor is as simple as it is elegant: a semi-closed back with chic stainless steel details. The chassis is milled from robust 6061 aircraft aluminium and hard anodised for extra durability and resistance. Inside the reel is a simple but robust click-pawl brake that controls the slight drag. The integrated clicker is inconspicuously incorporated into the inside of the spool and also serves as a counterweight for the crank, so that the spool always turns in a perfectly balanced manner and never wobbles. The stainless steel clicker not only provides a pleasant resistance when pulling the line, it also produces the characteristic sound that many Abel fans have learnt to love. To simplify braking with the palm of your hand, the outer edge of the spool has been specially emphasised. This gives you ultimate control during a fish fight, as you can control the drag pressure with the palm of your hand alone. This is not only particularly safe when fishing with very fine leaders, it is also simply incredible fun.
In total, the reel consists of just 21 individual parts. If sand, dirt or anything else gets into the reel, you can simply open it and clean it yourself. Simple, effective and, above all, extremely easy to clean. This guarantees you traditional performance for many, many years. As a little gimmick, Abel has engraved a stonefly, a mayfly and a caddis fly on the inside of the frame. A small work of art and the perfect connoisseur piece for trout junkies who love traditional performance with a modern twist.
In short: light, strong, robust and efficient: the new TR has become an absolute collector's item, as it combines a modern, revised design with classic performance and incredible precision work. All the individual parts are perfectly and flawlessly manufactured and work together like Swiss clockwork.
