CND Nordic GTE Double Handed Fly Rod

The CND Nordic Series was developed by NFisk specifically for the European market, bringing with it a clear Scandinavian DNA. The goal was to create a modern Scandinavian interpretation of a classic CND rod, combining the best of both worlds – adapted to the demanding conditions of European rivers. The result is a powerful yet sensitive rod series that excels in feedback, control, and versatility.

The rod series was designed with a stronger tip than what is typical for traditional Scandi rods. At the same time, care was taken to ensure the action remains noticeable deep into the butt section – even under high base tension – typical characteristics we've come to love in other CND rods. The adjusted action allows for precise stop points with shorter stroke lengths in Touch & Go casts, transferring significant speed through the rod tip to the line. This action not only allows for precise casting with tight loops, but also outstanding control during the fight.

The CND-typical bending behavior in the lower blank also provides enough power reserves to handle heavier Skagit heads or longer Spey lines with ease. So, while the Nordic GTE rods are designed as Scandi-style rods, they also offer a versatile application range for two-handed casting techniques of all kinds.

Over 100 different carbon prepregs were tested during development to find the ideal combination for the desired rod action. The carbon used impresses with Micro-Pitch technology, ensuring exceptional resilience and speed. An additional epoxy coating from Hitena on the guide wraps ensures maximum durability. An Alps reel seat and high-quality cork complete the package. Each rod comes delivered in a rugged Cordura tube.

12’6” #7/8 DH – 4-piece: A classic two-hander with balanced action. Excellent for Norwegian, Swedish, and Scottish river systems where both precision and power are required. Despite weighing just 208 g, it offers enough backbone for fighting large fish.

13’ #8/9 DH – 4-piece: A true all-rounder with a compact length. Designed for situations where a 14-foot rod is too unwieldy but a fully capable two-hander with serious casting power is still needed. Extremely powerful and fast – ideal for heavy sink tips and waters with very large fish, like Gaula, Orkla, or Mörrum. Weight: 212 g.

14’ #9/10 DH – 4-piece: The universal salmon rod for Scandinavia. Whether Finnmark, Trøndelag, Russia, or Iceland – this 230 g rod handles every situation with confidence. Designed for heavy lines and large flies, without sacrificing casting comfort. Also ideal for long casts in crosswinds or wide pools.

15’ #10/11 DH – 4-piece: The heavyweight of the series. A 265 g powerhouse rod built for extreme conditions. Designed for deep wading, the heaviest sink tips, and high water levels. Ideal for large rivers like Alta, Tana, Gaula, Orkla, or Kharlovka – especially in spring when waters are high and cold and heavy lines are essential.
