The Superflies Alphlexo Crab is a very special saltwater fly, because the crab is the original pattern invented and retied on Alphonse! A crab pattern that is one of the best flies among passionate saltwater fly fishermen, whether on bonefish, triggers or, above all, permit. Especially on Atlantic Permit in the Caribbean, the Keys or Yucantan, where the Permit reach a considerable size and are not easy to outwit, the original from Alphonse Island repeatedly catches record fish.
The pattern is tied on one of the best saltwater hooks, the Gamakatsu SL11. An extremely sharp and robust saltwater hook that doesn't dull quickly when it grazes the bottom, even with a slow retrieve. An additional advantage for this presentation is, of course, that the pattern is tied upside-down using Dumbell Eyes, so the hook is always pointing upwards. The madder has also been tied with a mono weed guard so that seaweed or other weeds lying on the bottom cannot wrap around the hook bend.
