Product information "Rio Avid Bass Floating Fly Line"
The Rio Avid Bass is an outstanding all-round line for fishing with the streamer in still water as well as in the river. The compact Head Weight of the line with the weight shifted to the front is easy to cast, offers a lot of control in the cast and has a great turn-over behaviour even with bushy flies, which makes fishing with the streamer easy.
At 24.4 metres, the Rio Avid Bass is quite a short line, which benefits the fair price. However, 24.4 metres is more than sufficient in most cases, especially for streamer fishing when discreet presentation at long distances is not an issue. The 10.1 metre head is an ideal length for long casts, yet the weight is distributed so that modern rods can be loaded quickly and larger flies transported easily. For us, the Avid is a price-performance winner from Rio and an ingenious line for fishing for trout, perch, asp and co.
Rio technologies:
- Slick Cast
The name says it all! Rio has really shaken up the fly line market with this new technology. Rio itself advertises it as the smoothest coating on the market. It improves the shooting ability, noise minimisation and durability of the line. We ourselves found the lines so smooth that we had to restrain ourselves a little at first so as not to overshoot the metaphorical target. So we can endorse Rio's claim.
