The Umpqua Perform X Sighter Indicator Tippet is the perfect addition to any Euro Nymph leader setup. In tight-line nymphing techniques—like French Nymphing—traditional strike indicators are avoided because they disrupt the natural drift of the nymph near the riverbed. Instead, anglers use visual cues known as "sighters" that do not carry the weight of the fly but help detect subtle takes. These takes are felt through specialized leaders and rods in the #2 to #4 weight class.
This sighter from Umpqua enhances visibility of your leader and drift while Euro Nymphing. The monofilament is color-dyed to stand out against a wide variety of backgrounds when suspended in the air. The sighter alternates color every 20 cm and comes on a 15-yard spool that can be trimmed to the ideal length. Each color transition is separated by a 5 cm black section for improved visibility in glare or bright conditions.
The indicator tippet is available in different diameters so you can perfectly customize your leader setup. You can connect the sighter and tippet with a tippet ring for easy attachment or use a Perfection Loop directly into the two-tone indicator. Depending on water level and target species, you can choose either nylon or fluorocarbon tippet material—for example, the slightly stiffer Stroft ABR is a great option for nymphing.
