Oros is a young start-up from the USA that focuses on solving problems that we fly fishermen encounter in practice on the water. This also includes nymph fishing with bite indicators. This is because many conventional bite indicators on the market have the same disadvantages. And this is exactly where the Oros Strike Indicator comes in!

The round bite indicators from Oros in bright signal colours consist of just two parts, making them very easy to install. These bite indicators therefore have no small parts that can get lost on the water. Instead, they have a clever screw mechanism that fixes them to the leader. They also have a streamlined design, which ensures a balanced cast and is less susceptible to wind. The outside of the Oros Strike Indicators is smooth so that the leader cannot get caught anywhere and wind resistance is minimised.

The actual fastening element is located inside the two hemispheres of the Oros bite indicator, which are made of soft foam. The leader is inserted here and remains intact when fishing and - unlike many classic bite indicators - is not kinked. This extends the life of your tippet or leader enormously! The pressure-resistant clasp is very easy to operate and keeps the Oros Strike Indicator in position. This means you can always be sure that you are offering your nymph at the correct depth.

Oros Strike Indicators are available in different diameters and colours so that you always have the optimal solution for your nymph fishing at hand. The clever, well thought-out design of these bite indicators makes classic nymph fishing even more fun!

Oros Strike Indicator assembly:

Unscrew the top section
Insert the leader into the screw slot in the lower section
Attach the upper section and screw it down until the screw and nut hold the leader in place
To move the bite indicator on the leader, loosen the screw by 1/4 turn.
Do not overtighten!

Our recommendations:

Small (S): The smallest Oros bite indicators have a diameter of approx. 1.6 cm. This makes them ideal for finer nymph fishing with leaders of 0.15 mm and thinner. If you are fishing in the low line classes and like to fish with 3 and 4-piece rods, then this bite indicator is a great choice.
Medium (M): The medium Oros bite indicators have a diameter of approx. 2.1 cm. They are very versatile and are also an excellent choice for fast-flowing waters. Ideal for leaders with a diameter of 0.18 mm and thinner and for line classes #3 to #5.
Large (L): The large Oros bite indicators have a diameter of approx. 2.6 cm. This makes them particularly suitable for fishing with heavy nymphs, for example for barbel. They are best attached to leaders with a diameter of 0.20 mm or thinner and are best cast with line classes #4 to #6. Great for large, deep waters!
Extra Large (XL): The extra large Oros bite indicators have a diameter of approx. 3.3 cm. This makes them particularly suitable for fishing with very heavy nymphs. Oros recommends attaching the XL bite indicator to leaders of at least 0.23 mm or larger. Great for the heaviest nymphs and the deepest waters.

Tips: If you want to fish with extra thin leaders, we recommend that you not only feed the monofilament or fluorocarbon through the slot of the fastening element, but also wrap the material once around the screw. The soft foam can deform during storage. We therefore recommend transporting the Oros bite indicators in a tin.
