Guideline Scandi Fly Reel Black & Blue

The Guideline Scandi fly reel is the result of two and a half years of intensive development and represents a new generation of specialized reels for modern salmon and sea trout fishing. Its Scandinavian-inspired design impresses with flowing, organic lines and technical refinement that combines precision and aesthetics in a remarkable way. 

Elaborately CNC-machined details such as beveled spoke surfaces and profiled reel arms emphasize the clear design language and underline the high-quality craftsmanship.

The construction of the Scandi reel aims at targeted weight reduction to optimally balance it with modern single-hand, switch, and double-handed rods. Its deep, narrow large-arbor spools with vertical walls allow easy accommodation of thicker shooting heads and prevent unwanted line stacking under heavy load during a fight. 

Inside the reel, a specially developed drag system with titanium and carbon fiber components ensures high durability and exceptionally long lifespan. The finely graduated drag settings can be precisely adjusted over a wide 720-degree range. A triple-stabilized axle and precisely fitting bearing inserts ensure smooth, controlled drag performance without axle or side play—even under extreme stress. 

The Guideline Scandi series includes four models that meet various demands of migratory fish fishing – from light single-hand rods in class #6–8 to heavy double-hand rods up to #13. The series is available in two subtle color variants: black with bronze or blue accents. All reels are supplied as standard for left-hand retrieve but can be easily converted to right-hand retrieve.

For easy reference, the reel foot is engraved on the inside with information about the recommended line capacity – including backing, running line, and shooting head. Each reel is delivered in a durable neoprene pouch whose structured design, with a grey exterior, black details, and bright orange lining, completes the high-quality appeal of the Scandi series.

H-Ti™ – High-Performance Titanium Drag System

The H-Ti™ drag system combines precision-engineered titanium discs with carbon friction plates – delivering outstanding stability, smooth drag performance, and long-lasting durability. The extended range of preset settings allows for finely tuned drag control, even in critical fighting situations.

A triple-stabilized core and perfectly fitted bearings ensure flawless alignment and prevent deformation under heavy load. Twelve stainless steel springs provide a sealed and consistently reliable drag system – even under extreme torque.

• H-Ti3™: 3 titanium and 2 carbon discs, up to 7.5 kg drag power – ideal for single-hand Spey and ultra-light Scandi rods.
• H-Ti5™: 5 titanium and 4 carbon discs, up to 10 kg drag power – optimized for modern light to heavy Scandi rods.

• Scandi #79 Fly Reel: This size is suitable for Guideline’s switch rods (DH classified) as well as lighter double-handed rods that cover a range of DH line weights from #6/7 to #8/9 and lengths from 11 ft. to 13 ft.
• Scandi #911 Fly Reel: With this reel, you'll notice that the extra weight pairs particularly well with slightly longer rods from about 13 ft. to 15 ft. in line weights 9/10 and 10/11.
