The Spey-Hackle Capes by Whiting are fantastic for adding a wonderfully natural action to your favorite patterns. These hackle feathers have extra-long fiber and were primarily used for the classic Salmon Fly. However, Salmon and Steelhead Spey fishermen in the US have begun adding Spey Hackles to a wide variety of patterns because of the incredible action that they have in the water.

In Europe, Spey Hackle has become very popular for Salmon and Sea Trout flies in the river, as well as on the coast. One of the first known Spey-Hackle Sea Trout flies was the Öland Spey-Shrimp of Morten Öland. Later, the ''Pattegrisen'', a variant of the Öland Spey shrimp modified by Claus Eriksen from Denmark, became known throughout Europe and is found in nearly every serious fisherman’s coastal fly box.

Due to the extremely high demand for Spey Hackles in Europe and North America, Whiting Farms had a difficult time keeping up with demand, causing the Spey-Hackle to sell out nearly everywhere!
