And with the XO Predator, Antti Guttorm and his colleagues have now developed a reel that will keep you ahead of the game both in freshwater at home for pike and the like and in the tropics when fishing for GT and other strong predators.
Vision XO Predator fly reels are milled from a solid block of aluminium and feature a very precise finish, which is reflected in the minimal play and tolerances of all moving parts. Large recesses in the reel and spool result in a very low weight and an unmistakable design, which we also liked very much on the XO. Thanks to the large-arbor design, the XO Predator offers fast line retraction and has a very smooth starting resistance and constant drag - no matter how full or empty the spool is. The reworked, sealed carbon disc drag system of the XO Predator is very tight, easily parries rapid escapes by strong predatory fish and sounds with a pleasant click. The integrated counterweight closes flush, ensures smooth running and prevents you from bumping your fingers at high speeds. It goes without saying that all components are protected against corrosion and are 100% saltwater-proof.
The XO Predator is a very harmonious fly reel from the premier league that will find many fans thanks to its sophisticated technology and stylish design. The very large capacity of this reel series is another plus point and can make the difference between success and failure in emergencies. The black anodised finish looks particularly classy and matches a variety of modern carbon fibre rods. Another special feature of the finish is a target fish engraved on the counterweight - as we already know it from the Vision Merisuola fly rods, for example.
