Tippet Rings are the ideal link between leader material and tippet.
These smooth rings by Vision are simply tied to the end of your leader, allowing you to easily tie the desired tippet to the ring. As a result, the leader retains its original length and taper and does not become shorter after every fly change or broken off fly. The rings are incredibly lightweight and will not affect the turnover of your leader, nor will they sink your presentation. The matte black color will also not spook fish.
Another big advantage of using Tippet Rings is the ability to attach a Fluorocarbon tippet to a Monofilament leader material. Tying Fluorocarbon directly to Monofilament material creates weak knots due to the different material properties. The use of a Tippet Ring completely prevents this. The same applies to the connection of two different diameter lines.
Tip: Tie the Tippet Ring to your leader while it is still attached to the supplied clip that the Tippet Rings are stored on. This allows you to properly tighten your knot. Then remove the ring from the clip and tie your tippet on to the ring. An added bonus is you won’t accidentally drop and lose the small ring.
