The Umpqua Nymph Jigged Prince Tungsten belongs in every trout bum's fly box - or at least it should.
It is perhaps one of the most famous and certainly one of the most productive nymphs in the world and an absolute classic. The nymph is similar to most aquatic insects below the surface, making it a reliable choice in almost any situation, whether fishing for brown trout, rainbows, char or grayling. A pearl in gold gives this version a subtle lustre. We fish the very natural and simple version of this pattern at any time of day or year.
These standard flies are tied on Umpqua's Competition Jig Hook (C400BL) and fitted with the new slotted tungsten beads. A large proportion of competition anglers are now using these hooks much more frequently as they have proved to be very, very "grippy" - an important factor when fishing world championships where lost fish are a disaster.
