Deceiver HD Big Game Fluorocarbon Leader
The knotless tapered Deceiver HD Big Game fluorocarbon leaders are made from 100% fluorocarbon. These drawn leaders feature a special taper that allows for clean presentations even in strong wind and with weighted or bushy fly patterns – all while sinking quickly and remaining nearly invisible.
Like any other fluorocarbon, Umpqua's FC offers two major advantages: First, fluorocarbon has a light refraction index similar to water, meaning that FC leaders are nearly invisible underwater. In crystal-clear waters, this often gives them an edge over traditional nylon (monofilament) leaders. Second, fluorocarbon sinks easily, whereas nylon floats. For this reason – along with its higher abrasion resistance – fluorocarbon is preferred in environments with rocks or other structures that can pose a threat during the fight.
