The renowned Hagane Gear transmission is manufactured using a cold forging process that ensures the reel retains its extremely precise, smooth and powerful operation over a long period of time. The precision-milled Micromodule Gear II, just like the X-Ship gear system, are designed for maximum precision and thus not only optimize the running behavior of the reel, but also additionally improve power transmission. By revising individual internal components, Shimano has developed the SilentDrive technology, whereby microscopic crank play is a thing of the past and the reel gets a super quiet and smooth running, which is again significantly improved by the total of up to eight ball bearings.
The internal components are enclosed in the high-quality and lightweight Hagane reel body, which is characterized by immense resistance, stability and torsional rigidity. Of course, the reel body is protected by the X-Protect technology against water penetration. The high-quality and of one-piece bail, gives the reel additional stability and ensures a smooth guidance of the line, without interfering edges. The bail is attached to the special MGL rotor, which is made of the well-known Ci4+ material. This minimizes the weight and starting inertia of the rotor and the special design noticeably improves the balance of the reel. The reel features a Long Stroke AR-C spool for better casting distance, a factor not to be underestimated, especially when light finesse rigs need to be transported to a certain distance.
