The rubberized knotless net is gentle on fish mucous membranes and prevents bait hooks from snagging awkwardly in the net. The rubber coating also ensures that the net dries quickly, no mucus sticks to it and thus no unpleasant odors are produced. At the side net walls, the meshes were deliberately chosen larger to minimize resistance under water.
