Foam rubber is a great tying material and suitable for all flies that need to have a lot of buoyancy. Typical patterns with foam rubber are, for example, "Gurgler" for sea trout or the "Chernobyl Ant" - a modern classic for trout and co. Foam rubber can be used directly as a body, or small "visual and buoyancy aids" can also be tied into dry flies. The foam rubber can be processed very precisely with conventional tying scissors and punched out with appropriate cutters.
