Product information "Orvis Helios F Finesse # 2 - 7.6 ft "Creek" single-handed fly rod"
Your best rod is now 4 times better! With the long-awaited launch of the new Helios fly rods, Orvis is going on a full offensive and really shaking up the fly rod market. Orvis is making a bold statement with the key technical data of the new flagship: 4 times more precise, 25% stronger and a 10% reduction in swing weight compared to the competition. Now that's a statement! This is underpinned by empirical data from intensive test studies and a seven-year development process. Whether on small trout streams or giant saltwater predators, with the D and F models (D=Distance / F=Finesse) Orvis covers the entire spectrum in the single-handed range.
The traditional American company set new standards in rod construction with the Helios 3. Since its market launch in 2017, the Helios 3 rods have won many fans around the globe and have been particularly praised for their precision, which has become the gold standard for the fly rod market. In the development process of the new Helios, this standard was the basis for an even more precise, even better rod. The fourth generation of Helios rods are among the most advanced fly rods on the market and the result of almost two decades of intensive rod development and technical progress.
Precision - 4X more precise!
4 times more precise than its predecessor. That is a quantum leap in precision and almost unbelievable. But this figure is backed up by empirical data collected using measurement methods developed specifically for this purpose. One of the main problems with precision is tip displacement after the rod stops during the cast. This uncontrolled vibration of the tip has been drastically reduced in the new Helios fly rod. The result: a loss-free energy transfer and precision like target shooting.
Power - 25% stronger!
Precision brings the fly to the fish, but the power in the blank ultimately brings it to the landing net or boat. After years of analysing the reasons for breakage in other rods, above all its direct predecessor (Helios 3), the main reasons for rod breakage have been identified and largely eliminated. "More Bend and Backbone" is not only easy to say, but is also the reason why the new Helios rods are 25% stronger and thus define the new gold standard on the market. The new Helios has a more homogeneous bending curve, which distributes the tension under load over the entire blank and thus relieves stress-intensive stress points. Ultimately, this means more lifting power so that you can master tricky situations with even more confidence.
Quality - "Overengeneered is an understatement"
Not only in terms of the performance of the new Helios rods, the best on the market was just good enough as a basis to go back to the drawing board. There is currently nothing better on the market when it comes to the choice of materials and components for the rods. Each rod model has the perfectly matched components for the intended area of use. This is immediately noticeable in the shape and design of the handle and reel seat. For example, the lightest models have a fine half wells handle made from the highest quality Korkers, the nymph models have a downlocking reel seat with a small fighting butt, the heavier freshwater models have an ergonomic, slightly smaller full wells handle with a fighting butt and the heavier predator and saltwater rods have a stronger full wells handle with composite reinforcement for improved durability and more grip. The smooth-running, robust screw-in reel seat made of type III anodised aluminium has been embellished with a high-quality spacer made of fine burl wood in the freshwater models. Other features that contribute to the 10% reduction in swing weight are the high-quality guides and minimalist finish of the blank. Titanium guides with SiC inserts and RECoil titanium snake guides reduce weight, improve the resilience of the blank and contribute to the rod's longevity. And the high-quality case with snap fastener and a slim aluminium rod tube ensure that the rod is perfectly protected during transport.
- Helios 3F:
The fourth generation of Helios rods are available in two different versions: F (Finesse) and D (Distance). The Finesse versions of the new Helios rods focus in particular on presentation characteristics, sensitivity and lightness. In other words, typical home fishing scenarios for trout and grayling. Their blank offers first-class feedback and brings your fly to the target with incredible accuracy - and deposits it there as cleanly as a feather. All models in the F series are ideal for technical presentations and tricky fish in all situations that demand perfection and wherever the thinnest leaders are used. Are you looking for incredible feel and precision? Welcome to the finish line!
