Product information "Opst Commando Groove Intermediate Head Shooting Head"

The Commando Heads from "Olympic Peninsula Skagit Tactics" (OPST) have gained many fans in recent years - far beyond the borders of the USA and Canada. No wonder, because the short shooting heads exude incredible casting fun and enable the Skagit style not only for higher two-handed classes, but also for lighter fishing with switch and even single-handed rods.

Following the success of the floating Commando heads, the developers at Opst are now introducing an intermediate solution with the Groove heads. The rear third of these shooting heads floats and therefore ensures optimum mendings. The rest of the shooting head sinks in very slightly, which slows down the swing a little and gives you even more control over the presentation of your fly. The Groove Intermediate Head is also ideal for windy conditions and a slight wave on the water. Apart from that, the Groove heads have the same taper as the popular Commando heads - based on the strict specifications of skagit guru Ed Ward. In practice, this means effortless and efficient casting with minimum effort. In all conditions!

Heavy nymphs or streamers are no problem for the compact Groove shooting heads. The head is combined with a matching Opst sink tip or a polyleader. This makes all casts child's play - without long casting movements and with maximum efficiency! Originally, skagit heads were used almost exclusively for fishing for steelhead, but with the Commando Heads they can be used in almost all areas of fly fishing, regardless of whether you are fishing for huchen, pike or trout. The range of different weights covers everything from light single-handed rods to heavy two-handed rods.

Up to 300 grain we recommend a 5 ft or 7 ft polyleader, from 300 grain upwards 10 ft or longer cast better.
