Product information "Metz Cock Saddle Grade 2"
Metz Cock saddles are characterised by perfect quality and a high number of feathers with stiff fibres. They are ideal for dry flies in hook sizes #8 to #20 and thus cover the most common trout and grayling patterns. Due to the excellent length of the feathers, you can tie many flies from each individual feather of this premium bellows. Of course, the feathers are also suitable when tied as a whole for tying streamer wings of pike flies, flat wings or deceivers. Thanks to the wide range of colours, you have many options when tying.
Information about Metz:
In the early 70s, Metz in Pennsylvania/USA first revolutionised the world of fly tying by introducing the first sophisticated breeding of hackles. Initially, hackles were produced in pure dry fly quality and in a complete range of colours. A product that enabled fly tiers to imitate natural insects more accurately than ever before and helped fly fishermen to make their dry flies not only float higher in the water film, but also decidedly longer (even through the fastest rushes) because these feathers simply stayed dry longer. Metz was therefore considered the unqualified standard in the 70s and 80s. Now Metz is back with a phenomenal comeback!
Stiff very dense fibres, a high number of feathers with an almost fluff-free, beautiful, thin, flexible and even keel and a complete range of sizes, are still the Metz standard by which other bellows must be measured. Deep, natural, consistent colours are the Metz trademark. Stringent selection in breeding, coupled with strict procedures in grading, guarantee top quality bellows - every time. The highest quality flies commercially available today are 100% tied with Metz bellows.
Tip: If the feathers have become crooked and crooked at home due to unfavourable storage, the feathers can be straightened again by holding them over the steam from a kettle (or similar device). The springs will then look like new again.
