When working with fur like e.g. deer, elk, nutria or bucktail hair-stackers represent an essential tool that comes in incredibly handy. Hair tips are not naturally aligned but end at different length - not always ideal. With a hairstacker you can align all tips within seconds. This allows you to tie more accurate, nice and neat flies with perfectly aligned hair tips - especially great for dry fly wings and tails.
Simply slide a bunch of fur in the funnel, tips first. Then tap the stacker against the bottom allowing the hair tips too align. Now you can tilt the stacker into a horizontal position, gently remove the funnel and grab the stacked hairs by thier tips - done!
