Our Recommendations:
- MICROSPEY AIR 2 – 10'9" #2: The 2WT is the shortest model in the series and is excellent for casting Scandi heads, but it can also handle heavier Skagit heads and sinking tips. This is a perfect rod for small rivers or larger rivers when skating caddis flies or presenting soft hackles. And, of course, you can effortlessly cast your typical trout streamers with this rod! We recommend a 210 Grain Skagit or 180 Grain Scandi head for this model. Alternatively, you can use a full line for single-handed rods in the #5/6 class. Enhance your head with an 8-10 foot poly-leader in the range of approximately 80 grains for a balanced setup.
- MICROSPEY AIR 2 – 11' #3: The all-around model of the series! From the flashy sculpin on trout streams to swinging tandem soft hackles – this 3WT is ready for any task. It can effortlessly handle both long and short casts and also serves well as a great indicator rod for stillwater applications. Pair the versatile rod with a 240 Grain Skagit or a 210 Grain Scandi head and, for example, a 10-foot T-10 sink tip to get your streamer to depth.
- MICROSPEY AIR 2 – 11'3" #4: Built with additional power for longer casts and larger flies, the 11'3" 4WT is the perfect choice for fishing in larger waters. This powerful rod is ready for aggressive Skagit heads and can still handle longer lines with touch-and-go techniques for ultra-smooth performance. A 300 Grain Skagit or 275 Grain Scandi head, paired with a 10-12 foot tip, is a perfect combination for this amazing rod.
