Product information "Guideline Elevation T-Pac Switch Fly Rod"
With the T-PAC models Guideline extends the successful Elevation rod family with 6-piece switch rods. The Elevation T-Pac switch rods have the same features as the four-piece models with the exception of the travel-friendly design. The Elevation travel rods will especially grow on salmon and sea trout anglers who head north and east in search of silver with conventional travel bags.
About Guideline Elevation Switch Rods
The unique Guideline Elevation rod series sets new standards in terms of environmentally conscious production! Thus, this is the "green" flagship product of the Scandinavian cult brand, which has developed a truly exemplary manufacturing process in favor of the environment. In keeping with a very environmentally conscious principle, this innovative production leaves as little "ecological footprint" as possible. In terms of sustainability, therefore, questionable materials and substances were left out of the production of these fine rods. However, the environmentally friendly construction of the Guideline Elevation fly rods is not the only impressive aspect - the performance of these rods is also superb!
The matte, unpolished blank provides the Elevation double-handed rods a relatively fast action with high recovery speeds. Therefore, it offers you assertive casting properties for a truly versatile performance with compact shooting heads and full lines! In addition, it combines an impressive lightweight feel, excellent stability, and very high-quality components. In short: During their environmentally conscious production, no compromises were made in terms of performance and durability, creating a reliable, long-term companion - all in the spirit of sustainability. All models of the Elevation series are perfectly designed for their respective fields of application - from small Salmon streams to the gigantic rivers of the North.
Undoubtedly, Guideline sets a completely new standard in terms of environmental consciousness with this rod series - and this at a very attractive price. Thus, the truly innovative Elevation Two-Handed Fly Rod is the perfect choice for environmentally-friendly fly anglers, who also value great performance!
Tip
These 6-piece Switch rods are designed and rated with US Switch weight standards in mind. This means they should be loaded with the same weights as normally used on Scandinavian double hand rods. Besides being travel friendly, these are extremely light rods that will fill the needs of anglers wanting to fish short rods with Multi Tip and Scandi Heads in double handed weight ratings. They are built with short front and rear grips to offer comfortable double handed casting, yet still giving the option to throw a single-handed cast if preferred. Weights are 156, 160 and 162 grams for the three models respectively. All have up-locking reel seats, foregrips are 265mm and rear grips are 90 mm long.
Our recommendations
Elevation SWITCH T-PAC 11,3 ft. #6/7
Your choice of model for smaller rivers where delicate presentations with smaller to medium sized flies are more important than long casts and heavy rigs. Ideal when fishing for migratory fish like Salmon, Trout or Steelhead. If you want to set this rod up for Scandi/Spey style casts and technique, we recommend using the following Guideline lines: 3D Compact 26 grams #6/7DH Shooting Heads. These are available in seven models from Float to S2/5/7. 4D Compact Multi Tip (Bodies and Tips). The best combinations are Floating (or F/S3) 18- or 20 grams Body with 10’ or 12’/7gr Tips (Available from Float to S5/7). For Skagit Style casts, the following set-up will work well: 4D Compact 22 grams/340 grains Body + 10’ or 12’/7 grams/108 grains Tips. (Available from Float to S5/7).
Elevation SWITCH T-PAC 11,3 ft. #7/8
This is the option for a wider scope of situations and fishing. Probably your best choice if you want the most versatile Switch rod for many applications. It has the same fast, action type as the 6/7 rod, but is obviously charged with more power. This rod paired up with Guideline's new Compact lines will make you smile during long sessions of casting and searching for the tug of a big fish. When using this rod with Scandi/Spey style casts and technique, we recommend using the following Guideline lines: 3D Compact 29 grams #7/8 Shooting Heads. These are available in seven models from Float to S2/5/7. 4D Compact Multi Tip (Bodies and Tips). The best combination is Floating (or F/S3) 22 grams Body with 10’/7gr or 12’/7gr Tips (Available from Float to S5/7). For Skagit Style casts, the following set-up will work well: 4D Compact 25 grams/385 grains Body + 10’ or 12’/7 grams/108 grains Tips. (Available from Float to S5/7).
Elevation SWITCH T-PAC 11,3 ft. #8/9
A true little power horse that will have you reaching further than you thought possible with small rods like this. Lots of back bone to manage both heavy tips, large flies and a trophy salmon. The light weight in these rods make them ideally suited also for younger anglers that need a rod to bring them into the world of double handed fishing and casting. Combined with one of Guideline's below recommended lines, casting doesn’t get any easier. If you prefer Scandi/Spey style casts and technique, we recommend using the following Guideline lines: 3D Compact 33 grams #8/9 Shooting Heads. These are available in seven models from Float to S2/5/7. 4D Compact Multi Tip (Bodies and Tips). The best combination is Floating (or F/S3) 25 grams Body with 12’/7gr Tips (Available from Float to S5/7).
