The all new Vision Grand Daddy fly rods have been developed to replace the popular Vision Big Daddy Series – not an easy task given the fact that these rods still blast out big streamers to destination pike like nothing. However, after the first few wiggles and a short casting test out at the pool we are certain that this rod has all it takes to successfully follow in its “daddys” footprints – 100%
The action of the Grand Daddy has again been fine tuned and adapted to deal with large and largest streamers. Slightly softer and more deeply loading the medium-fast Grand Daddy blank reduces shocks of big streamers punching into the line and thus provides an exceptionally smooth casting experience. Yet, the rod still incorporates plenty of backbone for punching casts into a head wind, lifting big streamers and not least to tire strong pike quickly. With a decreased weight and, noticeably lower swing-weight and quicker recovery the Grand Daddy has a great overall feel and balances well in hand.
Next to the striking red blank with red wrapping and yellow accents these rods are equipped with super robust and lightweight titanium stripping guards. We are especially fond of the nicely implemented measuring marks along the blank that can be used to measure fish between 100 cm and 130 cm – a very practical and handsome detail! The Grand Daddy is available in classes #8 to #10 and comes either with a cork or EVA handle.
Again the Finns at Vision Fly Fishing managed to upgrade their popular pike rod series with real improvements – improvements that crank up the performance to the next level.
