About Naoki Hashimoto

Born in 1969, in Osaka, Japan, he grew up in the circumstance where he saw a lot of fishermen among his family or friends, so he felt that it was quite natural to start to enjoy fishing.
At the age of 23 Hashimoto started building split bamboo rods through self education. At first he handed his fly rods to his friends to try them.

He decided to be a full time rod builder when he turned 30. As he understood the hardship of craftsmanship when being child, he tried harder and harder to "make good stuff at all." So he dedicated himself to building fly rod blanks. During the next 5 years, Hashimoto assembled 150 to 180 blanks a year.

For the purpose of searching for the understanding of relation between rod performance and bamboo characteristics essentially, he eventually moved to Tokachi, Hokkaido, the blue ribbon field of fly fishing in Japan, and staying there since then. Go to Hashimoto's website “Tokachi Trout Rods”.
