Nam Single Handed Fly Rod

The names behind the brand NAM are not unknown to the fly fishing scene: Marcus Bohlin, Johan Sönderberg und Mikael Andersson (Mr. “Banana Fly”). No wonder that these rods are designed 100% practice-oriented and are convincing on all ends. Fresh design ideas and modern rod building technologies are incorporated in these rods, combined with state-of-the-art carbon fiber materials. For the first time, graphene crystals are used in these South-Korea made blanks. These crystals have a distinct and unique structure that renders the rod blanks extremely robust and light. The results of this unique material combination are rods that are not only light, but have an incredibly low swing weight. The difference is noticeable from the first meter of line that is casted out of the rod tip.

This second generation of NAM rods were tweaked and twisted a bit to get even more usability and performance out of these minimalistic masterpieces. The new cork grip for instance has arrived on the highest level in terms of quality will be very hard to beat. The rod series covers all application areas of modern single handed fly fishing, whether it is for a small creek, river, lake or the coast. From short and sensitive rods for trout and grayling, over modern nymphing models, all the way to powerful casting tools for the Baltic coast or tropical saltwater. Every model of the series was specifically designed and adjusted for the respective demands of each fishery. The medium fast action of these rods will appeal to the casting style of many and give a lot of feel and feedback during the cast. The lighter rod classes have a finer tip for a more sensitive feel and precise presentations. The lower part of the rod on the other hand will give you enough power to lift and move a bigger fish. The longer models are not only great for overhead casting, they are a bliss for modern roll- and switch-casting techniques.

The slim and modern carbon fiber blanks combined with graphene have a minimalistic, matte black finish. The addition of discreet, grey decorative windings creates a truly timeless look. Compared to the first generation of NAM rods, the new high-grade cork is even better and long-lived, its ergonomic shape makes it a bliss to hold and cast. The black anodized aluminum spacer and the beautiful reel seat with hardwood inlay on the lighter rod classes, perfectly complete the modern look together with the titanium coated snake guides.

The NAM rods without question are amongst the top players out there, they are designed from anglers for anglers and all models have convinced us through their functionality. They surely make the grade of a seasoned salmon angler.

A few words about the new “Delgado” cork:

Strictly translated the word “Delgado” means thin or slender. These thin barked trees are not as common as the thick bark trees making it very rare and highly sought after.  Since the cork bark is naturally thinner and denser it has many advantages over the thicker cork bark.

Advantages with Delgado:

  • The pores are much smaller so there is almost no need for filler material at all.
  • No need for rubber-cork endings making the handle even lighter and still very durable.
  • Thanks to the slower growth speed of the “Delgado” trees, the density of the cork material itself is slightly higher resulting in increased transmission of vibration between the blank and the cork, giving you better direct contact with the rod

It’s green with Delgado Cork:
It regenerates every 9 years, so it is completely renewable. Not only is it renewable, but harvesting the cork bark is actually beneficial to the tree itself in terms of lifespan because if left unharvested the cork bark can grow too thick and choke the tree resulting in premature death. Harvesting the cork don’t just allow the tree to live longer, stripping the bark also increases the amount of CO2 it can absorb from the air. So, it’s truly a win-win for the environment.
The glue that is used has no solvents or harsh chemicals in it and is also 100% Eco-Friendly.
