Nam Limited Pro Guide Edition Single Handed Fly Rod PGE

Fly rods from Nam have created quite a buzz in the European fly fishing scene in a very short time. This is true for both the two-handed and the single-handed rods of the innovative Scandinavians! The refreshing ideas of Marcus Bohlin and his team in design, combined with the most modern technologies of rod building and high-end carbon fibre materials, are simply well received. Graphene crystals are used in the production of the blanks in South Korea, which have a very special structure and are therefore extremely robust and very light. The result of this exclusive mixture of materials are rods that are particularly impressive due to their low swing weight. You notice this from the first metre of line you move through the air!

The same happened to Christof Menz and Uwe Rieder! The two passionate fly fishers are known as 'Pro Guides' far beyond the borders of their Austrian home country from casting demos and courses. With their expertise in fly casting, they have developed a limited special edition of the Delgado single-handed rod in cooperation with Nam, which is intended for fishing for brown trout, grayling and co. on our homewaters. In contrast to the original Nam Delgado, two essential things have been changed: The action of the Nam PGE is slightly softer - especially in the butt section of the lightweight blank. This makes the rod feel even better on switch casts, roll casts etc. The rod can be loaded very deep and gives intense feedback over all casting distances. Thanks to the special action, the fly line can be felt over the entire rod stroke, which not only suits beginners but also professionals in fly casting. The typical casting style of the Pro Guides can be put into practice very effectively with this rod! This is also ensured by the second change compared to the 'original'. The PGE has a slightly longer half-well cork handle. This fits in with the index finger position, as taught in the courses by Menz and Rieder. In practice, this leads to more precision and sensitivity - two aspects that are particularly essential for successful fishing in clear waters for shy fish. With a casting weight of approx. 13 - 14g, the Nam PGE works particularly well and can be used very universally. Dry flies as well as nymphs and streamers can be cast with this 5-weight rod without fatigue. A very universal rod with which you can cover the entire spectrum of modern fly fishing for trout and grayling! And because of the slightly softer action you don't have to worry about very fine leader tips too!

Apart from these two points, the Limited Pro Guides Edition also features all the advantages of the popular Nam single-handed rods. The thin blank made of modern carbon fibre combined with graphene has a matt black finish. Combined with the discreet grey decorative wrapping, the result is a timeless look. The special Delgado cork is particularly high quality and fits perfectly in the hand. The black anodised aluminium reel seat and the beautiful spacer made of wood match the overall look as well as the very hard and titanium nitride coated black snake guides.

The single-handed rods from NAM belong without question to the absolute top class and are developed from top to bottom by true fly fishers. This also includes the Pro Guides Edition without any exceptions. This rod convinces with highest functionality and will impress demanding fly fishers with its low swing weight. We personally like the new handle and the slightly softer action very much and are happy to be able to offer you this limited series exclusively.

A few words about the new “Delgado” cork:

Strictly translated the word “Delgado” means thin or slender. These thin barked trees are not as common as the thick bark trees making it very rare and highly sought after.  Since the cork bark is naturally thinner and denser it has many advantages over the thicker cork bark.

Advantages with Delgado:

  • The pores are much smaller so there is almost no need for filler material at all.
  • No need for rubber-cork endings making the handle even lighter and still very durable.
  • Thanks to the slower growth speed of the “Delgado” trees, the density of the cork material itself is slightly higher resulting in increased transmission of vibration between the blank and the cork, giving you better direct contact with the rod

It’s green with Delgado Cork:
It regenerates every 9 years, so it is completely renewable. Not only is it renewable, but harvesting the cork bark is actually beneficial to the tree itself in terms of lifespan because if left unharvested the cork bark can grow too thick and choke the tree resulting in premature death. Harvesting the cork don’t just allow the tree to live longer, stripping the bark also increases the amount of CO2 it can absorb from the air. So, it’s truly a win-win for the environment.
The glue that is used has no solvents or harsh chemicals in it and is also 100% Eco-Friendly.
