The Hardy Marksman fly rod is the new all-round rod from the house of Hardy and in addition it is again significantly lighter than its predecessors. On the one hand, weight saving is due to the Sintrix technology, which gives the blank an extreme compressive strength without increasing weight or material thickness. On the other hand, the Marksman fly rod was provided with a new reel seat from Hardy, which saves some weight. Another minimal saving comes from the insertion rings, which the Marksman has. The rings used are, of course, made of titanium and are so-called recoil rings that spring back into position even after a load is applied without damaging the winding or varnish. The guide rings of the rod are also made of corrosion-resistant titanium and are also provided with an extremely smooth ceramic insert. The Gold-Olive blank of the rod with a medium fast action convinces with pretty much every technique we practice on the river or lake. The rod is by no means too soft and presents dry flies with a tight and fast loop. At the same time, the action is deep enough to cast heavy nymph rigs, whether with a wide overhead cast or a sensitive roll cast.
