Douglas Upstream Single Handed Fly Rod

Upstream - This beautiful rod series from Douglas could not have been named more aptly. Because a dry fly is best served upstream. And this is exactly what these short and ultra-light rods were built for in the USA with a lot of heart and soul. Each model in the Upstream lineup is designed to offer a minimal but highly functional approach to fishing creeks, small streams and casting in the green tunnel. Meeting the challenges of discreet presentation at close range and immediate control of line, fly and fish in perfect harmony, the Upstream achieves this with ease. This is where the heart goes out to lovers of filigree fishing with small dry flies or lightweight nymphs!

The extremely filigree carbon blanks of the Upstream fly rods are equipped with a first-class handle and reel seat made of high-quality cork. This traditional look harmonises perfectly with the medium-fast Full Flex action, which allows the use of very thin leader tips and offers incredible fun when fighting a fish. The fly reel is fixed with a classic ring on all models and the natural Tonkin colouring exudes the charm of timeless bamboo rods. Clear decorative wraps round off the very beautiful overall appearance of these rods and underline the minimalist finish of impeccable quality.

Upstream fly rods from Douglas combine state-of-the-art technology with traditional fly fishing values. If your heart beats for the Trout and Grayling fishery on smaller streams and you appreciate the sensitive casting with light fly lines, then you are well advised to choose this rod series. The lightest model in the Upstream family weighs well under 50g. This is not only impressive on paper, but also in practice. It has never been more fun to roll cast a tiny CDC fly or a light nymph with a classic DT line. The small pack size is only one positive side effect of the Upstream, but you won't want to miss it when hiking or travelling. A rod class with a lot of soul that we can warmly recommend!
