When developing the Opal Saltwater & Predator fly rod, Beulah had a specific goal. To create a light, powerful but above all unbreakable rod for the toughest conditions and strongest predators in this world. And by tough conditions, we're not talking about wind and wave that occasionally caress the rod, but fast, bumpy boat rides across the water or rocky gravel roads with potholes. While our rods are mounted on the car or lying in the boat, they have to be able to withstand a lot to avoid unexpected breakage during casting or fishing. For this reason, Beulah has significantly increased the percentage of nanoparticles in the resin, because the more nanoparticles are contained in the resin, the more robust the rod against external influences, but of course also in the drill and during casting.
Fast precise casts are the be-all and end-all when hunting many large predators, whether in fresh or salt water. GT, Rooster and Co. do not wait for you, the casts must come fast on distance and be placed hair-exactly. The Beulah rods offer you exactly this possibility, because the rods have a fast action, are incredibly true to track in the cast and have no problem to catapult a little more weight forward, if times a meter too much line in the air. The responsive rods give you an incredible casting experience, with pinpoint accuracy. The finish of the handle with a rubber cork compound also plays a role here, of course. It provides sufficient grip on the thumb even in wet conditions and throughout the day.
The IM8 Resin also pays off in the drill, the lightweight Opal rod has incredible power reserves that are evenly distributed throughout the rod. From pike to shark, the Opal rods take on any fight and to ensure you always have the upper hand with the big fish, the #10, #11 and #12 class rods feature an extended fulls wells grip called the Force Grip. This extended grip version provides better leverage and makes it easier to hold or even pump the fish.
The biggest predators in the world live in the deep sea, so it's fitting that Beulah chose a dark blue color for the blank. The Dusk Blue matches the rod exactly, as does the anodized reel seat, which uses two lock nuts to hold the reel firmly in place. The AAAA quality Portuguese cork feels great in the hand and the small details of the rubber cork not only give you more grip when casting, they also look very stylish!
In short, the Beulah Opal fly rod is a fly rod made for hunting the strongest predators in your waters or while traveling. A rod built for the toughest trips and the bumpiest approaches. However, the weight and casting characteristics were not neglected, so the rod is not only a real drilling machine, it is also a lot of fun to cast!
IM8 Silica Nano Matrix Resin
IM8 composites feature a revolutionary technology to formulate resin systems with high concentrations of nano-sized spherical silica particles. The particles are so small that they flow between individual carbon fiber filaments. By increasing the strength between the composites, the rod not only performs incredibly well, it is also more resistant to breakage. The higher the number of nanoparticles in the resin, the more resilient and crack resistant the material. The IM8 Silica Nano Matrix (SNM) resin composite contains an astounding 40 percent nanoparticles evenly distributed throughout the resin.
American Tackle Titanium Guides
The solid, flexible titanium rings are saltwater resistant and flex with the rod even under a heavy load, so no damage can occur.
Beulah Force Grip
The Force Girp is an additional extension of the handle made from a cork compound. The extended grip on the higher rod classes provides better leverage when it comes to taming the strongest predators with the backbone of the rod.
