Guideline Stoked Double Handed Fly Rod

With the Stoked two-handed rods, the rod makers from Guideline seamlessly continue the success story of the single-handed models of the same name. Leif Stavmo and his team of experienced Scandinavian salmon anglers have managed to combine convincing casting performance and an attractive price with these modern two-handed rods. Stoked two-handed rods offer excellent value for money and they are built with the same remarkable finish as the single-handed versions. Undoubtedly one of the lightest rod series in its price range! Well balanced and easy to cast, medium fast action with a forgiving curve that absorbs beginner mistakes and creates plenty of feel in the cast. Compared to the Elevation, these rods have a slightly lower modulus carbon. Stoked Double Hand rods work equally well with a Scandi Heads or a Skagit Rigs.

All Stoked rods are equipped with the latest materials and production technologies. This makes it possible to produce beginner rods on a whole new level. The Stoked range also features many of the same environmentally friendly components and processes as Guideline's Elevation rods, making them a great choice for the environmentally conscious angler. All Stoked rods come with environmentally friendly PVD coated rings in Gun Smoke finish. They are supplied in a rod bag and PP (polypropylene) tube with a strong cover made from recycled polyester fabric.

With the Guideline Stoked two-hand fly rod, the name undoubtedly says it all again. In terms of casting performance, workmanship and environmentally conscious production, these rods are in no way inferior to the Stoked single-handed rods. We are thrilled again in every respect. In other words: We are absolutely STOKED again!

Our recommendations:

Stoked DH 12ft. #7/8

Our number one recommendation for anglers who want a rod that is easy to handle, yet powerful enough to handle larger fish and flies as well as a variety of line types and casts. This 12ft. is the right choice for small to medium sized rivers and will let you cast effortlessly with any of the following rigs.

If you prefer Scandi/Spey style casts and techniques, we recommend using the following Guideline lines: 3D Compact 30 gram #7/8 Shooting Heads. These are available in seven models from Float to S2/5/7. 4D Compact Multi Tip (Bodies and Tips). The best combination is Floating (or F/S3) 22 gram body with 12'/7gr tips (available from Float to S5/7). For skagit style casts or generally for a heavier load on the rod, the following set-up is good: 4D Compact 25 gram/385 grains body + 10' or 12'/7 gram/108 grains tips. (Available from Float to S5/7).

Stoked DH 13ft. #8/9
This is a great rod for working small to medium sized rivers. The length and light weight make it effortless and easy to handle for anglers of all levels and ages. This has always been one of the most popular lengths and line weights for salmon and sea trout fishing in the Guideline range and the Norwegians are pleased to now also offer a great option at this price point.

If you want to cast with Scandi/Spey style casts and techniques, we recommend using the following Guideline lines with it: 3D Compact 33 gram #8/9 Shooting Heads. These are available in seven models from Float to S2/5/7. 4D Compact Multi Tip (Bodies and Tips). The best combination is Floating (or F/S3) 25 gram body with 12'/7gr tips (available from Float to S5/7). For skagit style casting or generally for a heavier load on the rod, the following set-up is suitable: 4D Compact 29 grams/447 grains body + 10' or 12'/7 grams/108 grains tips. (Available from Float to S5/7).

Stoked DH 14ft. #9/10
If you're looking for a rod that will cover most of your salmon and sea trout fishing needs without breaking your wallet, this is the one! Lightweight and well balanced, it has a medium-fast action with a nice and quick recovery speed in the blank that makes casting and fishing effortless and easy. The tip has a balanced stiffness that absorbs and forgives casting errors, making this rod a perfect choice for beginners and intermediate casters.

We recommend the following line set-ups from Guideline for this rod: 3D Compact 37 gram #9/10 Shooting Heads. These are available in seven models from Float to S2/5/7. Guideline's original and longer 3D+ heads in #9/10 also work great on this rod. 4D Compact Multi Tip (body and tips). The best combination is the Floating (or F/S3) 29 gram body with 12'/9gr tips (available from Float to S5/7). You can also choose the original 4D body in 26- or 29-grams along with 4D 15'/9gr tips for a longer rig that also casts nice and controlled. For skagit-style casts, the following set-up works well: 4D 32 grams/493 grains body (or even 35 grams/540 grains) + 12' or 15'/9grams/139 grains tips. (Available from float to S5/7).
