When fishing on the flats it’s all about discretion and precision. Bonefish or Permit in crystal clear water under a bright blue sky normally act ultra shy and demand a fly fishermen’s ‚A Game’. How many fish haven’t been caught cause another one was spooked by just the fly line cutting the wind? When a single fish hits the alarm bell, most often the whole school leaves the flat.

Especially for those challenging scenarios Cortland has devloped the Liquid Crystal Clear. Made by extruding a proprietary blend of clear polyethylene and advanced co-polymers over a monofilament core, this clear fly line is virtually invisible in the water. The hard PE+ coating has a super-smooth finish with an exceptionally low coefficient of friction so it shoots faster and farther than conventional PVC floating lines on the market. The coating is permanently fused to the core so there is minimal line stretch — for unequaled strike detection and direct hook sets.

Cortland’s Flats Taper comes in classes from 7 to 9 and puts the main weight into the first 6,39 m, followed by a 7,92 m backtaper. The total length of the head is 14,31 m. The line shows an ideal weight distribution for precise casts targeting Bonefish, Permit and other ‚smaller’ species on the flats. Fast and accurate casts are easy to perform and with just one backcast you have 16 m of line in the air.

All lines come with welded loops on both ends to attach leader and backing.
