Rio Premier OutBound Short 3D Fly Line I/S5/S7

The latest generation of the popular Rio OutBound Short is here! The perfect line when it comes to quickly loading your rod with few false casts. The Outbound Short has been an absolute favorite among predator anglers for many years and rightly so, because the compact taper loads your rod effortlessly even with large, bushy and weighted flies.

In the low classes, this line is perfect for trout fishing with heavier streamers, for deep wading on the river or for the low seating position on the belly boat. In strong winds on the coast, you can still get distance with the short belly and can transport your shrimp flies towards the horizon. In the higher classes, the line is an absolute favorite when fishing for pike, zander, catfish and co. Because within the compact head, the weight is shifted forward, which provides a strong turn-over effect to easily transport massive flies to their target. A perfect predator line in fact!

So if you're looking for a shooting head type of line, the Rio Premier Outbound Short series offers you everything you need - from the floating variant to the complete sinker, when the fly has to go down really deep. What we like most about the new Premier Outbound is that not only does it come in many different sinking rates that cover all areas of use, the density is graduated along the length of the line for even more control thanks to Multi Density Control (3D) technology.

The compact head quickly transitions into the smooth running line, which has incredibly good shooting characteristics thanks to the ultra-smooth SlickCast coating. In practice, this allows particularly long casts with very few false casts or in limited backspace. In confined areas, on sheet pile walls, reed belts, with dense bank vegetation or on urban canals, this property comes in incredibly handy.

Intermediate/Sink5/Sink7: If you expect the fish in deeper water layers, this model is exactly the right choice. Effectively you fish in a water depth of 4 m and deeper, depending on how long you let sink. Especially for winter fishing, when the fish are deeper and react more lethargically, this line is an absolute favorite. A 13ft. Sink5 tip is followed by a 17ft. Sink3 range. The Intermediate Runningline ensures that the fly can sink even deeper and is not "pulled up" when stripping in. This is ideal for fishing from a boat or when you are fishing fast dropping edges.

Rio Technologies:

  • Slick Cast
The name says it all! With this new technology, Rio has really shaken up the fly line market. Rio itself promotes it as the smoothest coating on the market. Shootability, noise minimization and durability of the line are improved. We ourselves found the lines so smooth that we had to rein ourselves in a bit at first to avoid overshooting the metaphorical mark. So we can subscribe to Rio's claim.
  • Multi Density Control (3D)
Different sinking rates are combined within the line profile so that a gradual transition between the different densities is created. This results on the one hand in better casting properties, but on the other hand in a much more homogeneous sinking rate and thus much more control when guiding the lure. A straight line is created between your rod and the fly, so that you can directly recognize and utilize bites even in deep water layers.

  • Compact predator fishing line with aggressive front taper
  • Short, powerful head for large, heavy flies
  • Graduated multy density sinking line
  • Ideal for long casts with little backspace
  • Slick Cast: Ultra-smooth coating for better shooting characteristics, longer durability, and less noise
  • Multi Density Control (3D): Graduated sinkking rates for more control
  • Low-stretch core for best bite conversion and fly control
  • EasyID: Clear labeling for quick and easy identification of the line - no confusion!
  • No curling in cold weather
  • Distance control thanks to multicolor
  • Super strong, welded loops at both ends
  • Intermediate/Sink5/Sink7
  • Color: Black/Trans. Green
