The most important factors that determine the casting characteristics of a single-handed shooting head are the distribution of the weight and a smooth taper. The taper of these shooting heads is very balanced and results in a clean turn-over of the leader. For optimal presentation we recommend a Flurorocarbon leader with a length of 12 ft.
Head First shot heads lie very stable in the air and can easily be cast precisely over all distance ranges. Even adverse conditions and onshore wind are no problem for these shooting heads and thanks to an extremely shootable coating you send your fly towards the horizon without any false casts. The low stretch core of the 9.5m long heads allows you to maintain direct contact with the fly and supports an immediate hook set - even at distance. All Scierra shooting heads are equipped with small welded loops on both ends, which make it easier for you to attach running line and leader. Intermediate: The intermediate version (Sink1) of this shooting head is a universal solution for most inshore scenarios. Whenever you want to fish just below the wave, you are well advised to use this shooting head. It sinks approx. 2.5cm per second and is therefore very versatile.
