Many of the ready-made tarpon leaders on offer are characterised by a continuous diameter, but Rio's variant tapers down to the fluorocarbon shock tippet. This means you can cast more precisely, more easily and can get the cast exactly where it should land: In front of the tarpon's mouth. When the dance begins, you're on the safe side with Rio.
