Very long and fine leaders are used for many nymphing techniques in the stretched line style (e.g. 'French nymphing'). The aim of these presentation techniques is to create an almost direct connection to the nymph without impairing the free drift of the nymph. Even the smallest impulses tighten the fine leader and are transported as a clear impulse over the sensitive tip of the long rod (#2 - #4 with a length of 10ft. - 11ft.) due to the low stretch of the monofilament. In contrast to other nymphing techniques, the bite is not seen but felt. This is why no normal, floating bite indicators are used, but instead a 'sighter' is knotted between the long, tapered leader and the tippet. It serves as an orientation point in the leader during the drift and indicates whether the leader has too much or too little tension for reliable bite detection.
This "Czech Nymph Leather" from Hanak was developed in collaboration with the former multiple world champion Lubos Roza and is designed precisely for this type of fishing. Made from a special monofilament, it has very low stretch, maximum abrasion resistance and no memory despite its length. The advantages are obvious: even the smallest nymphs can be cast with pinpoint accuracy and it is much easier to make contact with the bait than with conventional leaders.
The length of 9 metres is primarily intended for nymph fishing. This makes very long drifts possible and maximises the fishable radius. The taper of the leader is tapered from 0.55mm to 0.25mm. This Czech Nymph Leader can therefore be perfectly combined with the ready-made Soldarini sighters or you can make your own sighter from the Hanak Tricolour Indicator Line in no time at all. Due to the colouring (orange/yellow), you can also use a sighter if necessary - the leader stands out very well against any background.
