Tangläufer or scuds are one of the most underrated flies in sea trout fishing. The small snacks looks like nothing in the hand, but in the water they are irresistible to the silver bars of the Baltic Sea. Tangläufer can be found in the Baltic Sea almost at any time of the year and the sea trout know this as well. The small snacks are often collected by the fish slowly, without much effort, like our hand gets lost in the candy bowl on the table, even if you are not hungry. The tangläufer are permanently on the menu of the fish and that without burning a lot of energy during the intake, which makes the fly so extremely popular and effective, even with fish beyond the 60cm mark. The Tangläufer Long variant is a slightly longer, larger variety of the success pattern and is quickly seen by the fish, even if a hundred other Tangläufer in the water are on the move.
Tip: The fly leads best to success when it is offered in long, steady strips on the floating line or slow Intermediate line. The takes come gently and tentatively, which is more than can be said for the rest of the fight.
