• This is Johannes' standard shrimp fly:
  "I've refined and optimized this quite well-known shrimp pattern from my perspective. I can't remember when I tied this pattern in its current form, but it's been many years and hundreds of sea trout ago. Not only do I rely on the Hotspot Shrimp, but my entire circle of friends also has it in their fly boxes. You have to see this pattern in the water to understand why it works so well there: only small changes in material quantity and tying method have made this fly very close to a real shrimp. The translucent ribbing imitates the segmentation of a shrimp, the silhouette is slightly blurred by the semitransparent material, and the fine fibers create lively natural movements - this combination is incredibly effective. And so I catch fish with this fly even when it lies on the sandy bottom for a few seconds; I've tried it several times. Even extremely cautious fish in clear water are still attracted to this fly. It's one of my 'clean-up' flies when it comes to catching as many fish as possible from a school. However, the Hotspot Shrimp is also somewhat of a searching fly; it has proven itself countless times on the coast. For me, this fly represents an ideal combination of visibility and naturalness. Does it need the hotspot? I don't think so, but it does look a bit important."
