Product information "Andrew Marea Dark Wading Shoe Wet Grip & Studs"
The Marea Dark from Andrew is a top-class wading shoe made by hand in Italy (Montebelluna). The Italian manufacturer has been known since 1981 for its indestructible mountain boots, the design and durability of which is continued in the extremely high-quality wading boots. With the Marea, Andrew introduces another high-quality, robust and durable wading shoe.
The technical Andrew wading shoe was originally developed for fly fishing in the Italian mountains, where long marches to alpine waters, the odd climb and even conquering rocks are the order of the day. It is therefore not surprising that the Andrew is comparable to a modern hiking boot - cut high and stiffer in the ankle area to offer maximum stability. To protect it from jagged stones, coral and cliffs and to minimise impacts, it is reinforced all around by an extremely hard-wearing rubber coating. Despite this outstanding robustness, it is also so comfortable that we didn't want to take it off when we first tested it. You won't find a more comfortable boot anywhere else! The high-quality soles and midsoles, which are bonded with a special multi-component adhesive made in Germany, also contribute to the comfort when wading. Its optimal application has been perfected by Andrew over years of research and development and is another guarantee for wading shoes that hold together securely even after hundreds of hours of use.
The Marea Dark is a further development for fishing in the mountains or valleys, as this wading shoe really feels at home in rough terrain. The upper material has also been renewed to make it more cut-resistant to withstand the sharp stones outside and in the water. In addition, the anti-cut rubber strip has been generously glued, which at first glance looks like a production error, but is actually an ingenious solution. The adhesive used for the anti-cut strip protrudes by around 2 mm, which has the great advantage that the edge cannot peel off so quickly. The workmanship and components of the Marea clearly speak in favour of long-term use!
Another innovation of the Andrew wading shoe compared to its predecessor is certainly the completely newly developed Wet Grip sole. It is specially designed for use in damp areas outside and in the water and is characterised by excellent slip resistance on wet, slippery and overgrown surfaces. In addition, the Wet Grip & Studs model has 12 spikes already screwed in to ensure even better grip underwater.
- Wet Grip sole
A completely new rubber compound has been developed for the Wet Grip sole, which has very elastic and extremely soft properties, which also has a very positive effect on walking comfort. However, the major advantage of this new material is its brilliant mechanical resistance at all temperatures. The resulting low wear on all surfaces ensures an extremely long service life for the wading shoe. Thanks to its controlled deformability and viscoelastic behaviour, the sole adapts perfectly to any ground shape and increases the effective contact area. This is further enhanced by the slightly wider sole so that you can utilise the maximum contact and friction surface with every step. This makes wading in difficult situations much easier and therefore safer!

- For a perfect fit, we recommend that you choose your street shoe size, as the neoprene feet of your waders have already been taken into account.
- As a special service, the manufacturer offers resoling - regardless of the sole type. The service price (incl. VAT, excluding shipping costs) for this is approx. 1/4 of the purchase price.
- Surface rust forming on the lace eyelets does not affect the functionality of the wading boot and is not accepted by Andrew as a reason for complaint.

Size Chart
The stated boot sizes already takes into consideration the extra space for neoprene stockings. However, if you want to wear thicker wool socks (for colder days), we recommend going one size up. So, if you are wearing e.g. a size 44 shoe we recommend you to order the FLY Boot in a size 45.
