Ready for Saltwater - Part 5: Permit/Triggerfish

Fly Fishing in tropical saltwater is getting more and more popular! For many fly fishers Permit are the 'Holy Grail'. Their behavior is unpredictable, they are shy and their eyes are ultra sharp. This is why these fish are a big challenge, even though they show themselves at the surface while feeding on shrimps and crabs. They are fished on sight only - similar to Triggerfish which are great sportfish too in both the Caribbean and the Indian Ocean.

In this video Steffen Schulz is presenting basic information and many tips & tricks for catching the Permit and Triggerfish.

  • Which rod to choose?
  • Which line is suitable?
  • Which leader to use?
  • Which flies work best?
  • Which accessoires are helpful?

In additional videos we go into detail and present the perfect setups for other species like Tarpon, Bonefish and GT: Rods, Reels, Lines, Leaders and Flies.
