The NRX+ Saltwater single-handed rods now seamlessly join the long success story of G.Loomis. The strong, high-end fly rods of the NRX+ S (Salt) are not only great for sea trout fishing on the coast. When it comes to saltwater fishing and sea trout fishing, we often have to deal with changing winds that try to minimize our fun factor when fishing. In practice with the NRX + S, however, the weatherman did not succeed. The blanks, which are rolled with the compound taper construction, proved to be true distance monsters, even against the wind!
NRX+ blanks are based on G-Loomis Dynamic Recovery technology. G.Loomis' all-new Mega Modulus+ graphite matrix and GL8 resin system combine with the industry's most advanced rod blank construction process to deliver powerful charge followed by instant recovery with no swingback. The key to achieving this feature lies in redesigning the proprietary multi-taper design technology. This design has previously been used by G. Loomis to improve resilience and durability. Now it has been further developed, which not only increases the power of the blanks with a "sweet spot" for power and recovery, but also offers performance with feel regardless of casting distance. The Mega Modulus+ Matrix is 15% lighter than the original NRX rods, improving sensitivity and reducing casting fatigue. The quick resilience enables nice, tight loops with less effort, which the newly used GL8 resin also contributes to. It has the same strength and impact resistance as previous resin systems but with less material. This reduces the overall weight and also limits fatigue. Last but not least, the excellent damping properties of the NRX+ provide a clear, positive feeling in the hand during the fight with the fish.
But we don't only find high-quality materials inside the NRX+S, the components on the blank also impress us across the board and do justice to the high-performance rod. The black blank of the fly rod has two sturdy guide rings, which of course have an extremely smooth insert to reduce frictional resistance. The fly rod is also equipped with Recoil snake guides, with which you can easily come up against a tree or even sit on it without anything happening. Because the rings have the property that you can easily bend them and then they spring back into their original position. It is also remarkable that the paint over the blue windings is not damaged! From our side there are full points here, because this ensures that you get something from your high-end fly rod for a long time. The rod's saltwater-resistant reel seat convinces with a secure hold of the fly reel, in this case a Hatch Iconic in class 5+, which harmonises perfectly with G.Loomis. The two lock nuts on the reel seat proved to be extremely easy to grip, as we have already noticed with the Asquith fly rod from G.Loomis. The handle is made of high-quality cork, which has a comfortable diameter, so that even larger hands can find enough grip and you can use a lot of strength if you want to get that extra meter out.
